On Friday, August 31, IST Austria hosted the graduation ceremony for 36 students from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the Gymnasium Klosterneuburg International School. The festive occasion celebrated the graduates’ success following two years of hard work and personal investment: The graduating class' score was significantly higher than the world average, something KIS got used to in the program's nine-year history at Gymnasium Klosterneuburg. After their long adventure together, many of them will head off to university, excited to start the next chapter of their lives. Academic achievement is not the sole focus of the IB program, however: “Follow your passion, stay true to yourself, take risks and dare to be innovators”, concluded Siegfrid Opelka, the coordinator of the IB Program.
The ceremony also commemorates the 12th anniversary of the IST Austria, one of the main partners of the Klosterneuburg IB program. As an international research campus and a beacon for pluralism and openness, the Institute is proud to open its doors to host events such as this. Concluding his welcome address on Friday, Stefan Bernhardt, representing IST Austria, urged the graduates to support democracy and freedom, and first and foremost to “stay curious, stay critical!”
