At BG/BRG Klosterneuburg we cherish an open-minded, encouraging, however, academically challenging approach to teaching and learning. We believe that everyday life at school should be determined by mutual respect and understanding. Our dedicated pedagogical team actively aims at not only providing young people with the best possible education but to accompany and support them in their personal development throughout their school years. Equal importance is assigned to assisting students in developing their individuality as to encouraging solidarity and empathy with others.
The fact that lots of our students decide to further attend BG Klosterneuburg after finishing lower grades proves that these goals are appreciated and put into practice. We are proud of our graduates’ excellent results in both the Austrian Matura Exam and the International Baccalaureate and of our students’ achievements in foreign language and rhetorical competitions, the Math-Olympics, sports tournaments etc.
We are equally proud of every single musical performance, our drama clubs, the many language trips abroad, promotion programmes for gifted students, skiing courses in winter and sports courses in summer and our collaboration with the Institute for Science and Technology Austria, focusing on the advancement of science subjects.
Other essential parts of everyday school life are our very professionally trained student mediation team and our peer teaching programme that is effective throughout all grades.
In addition, two to three international lower grade classes in the Bilingual Programme and one higher grade IB Class as well as one higher grade Bilingual Class perfectly complement the well-rounded educational offer of BG/BRG Klosterneuburg. The Bilingual lower grade classes open pathways to additionally take an internationally recognized school leaving exam, the International Baccalaureate, while still going in for the Austrian Matura Exam. Our “bilingual” graduates enormously profit from this international approach to teaching and learning and many of them have been accepted at universities abroad or have been able to use their language skills at Austrian universities and in different jobs. Internationally mindedness paired with academic knowledge is proving to be an asset in every respect nowadays, for university or any other vocational education, for future jobs or just to pave the way to becoming a critical, responsible, and independent human being.
The size of our school with 52 classes attended by 1260 students can be challenging at first glance but brings a variety of advantages as well: students can choose between different educational programmes and many optional subjects. Individual talents of our students can thus be discovered and supported. Our large offer of subjects, both compulsory and optional, caters for individual needs and talents from 1st to 8th grade.
