The pre-requisite for all pupils applying to our school is officially documented residence in Klosterneuburg

Requirements for Admission to Year 5 and 6 of the Bilingual Programme in preparation for the IBProgramme and to the IBDP in Year 7

In order to sit the IB Diploma examination at 18, pupils must first complete the two-year IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), and ideally our two-year pre-IB Programme in Years 5 and 6.

Evidence of strong academic achievement in addition to fluency in English are key requirements for a pupil wishing to join the pre-IB Years or the IBDP itself.
Places in the IB Diploma Programme at BG Klosterneuburg are allocated according to availability and academic record.
For Admissions to Years 5 of the IBDP from inside the school, the application process is run by the Administration of our school. In case of oversubscription, the Admission/IBDP Administration will decide on the most suitable candidates based on three criteria:

• Academic achievement
• Effort
• Social involvement

For Admissions to Years 5 – 7 of the IBDP, both from outside and from German- taught classes (“Gymnasium” only) inside the school, the same application process applies:

Step 1

Fill in and submit the applicant’s details in the Online Application Form available from 6 September 2021 onwards. If you have questions, contact Admissions. Register for one of the two school tour dates if you wish to do so.

Step 2

After having submitted your online application form, you will receive an invitation to the general Entrance Assessment Session in February by mail.
Applicants from outside our school are tested in English, German and Mathematics (and in chosen IB subjects if deemed necessary by the IBDP administration)
Applicants from inside our school are tested in English.
All applicants are required to submit a letter of motivation of 500 – 600 words (Years 5 – 7) in English.

Step 3

You will be informed about the assessment results per mail. In case of acceptance, continue with the general enrolment procedure:
The applicant’s legal guardian must submit a general registration form and present the following documents in person at the secretariat:

• Printed and signed online registration form
• Most recent half term school report (= Semesterzeugnis) (copy & original)
• Social security number of your child
• Certificate of residency of your child (= Meldezettel) (original and copy)
• Proof of citizenship (= Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis) (copy & original)
• Birth certificate (= Geburtsurkunde) (original & copy)
• Certificate of baptism (= Taufschein) (original & copy)
• Guardianship decree (Vormundschaftsdekret) for single parents (original and copy)

N.B.: Students joining the IB class later than Year 5 and having completed their compulsory education, may be registered as “IB only students”, graduating with the IBDP exam only. These students will study their 6 IBDP subjects plus a range of mandatory extra subjects (e.g.: Sports) during Years 7 and 8 while they will do the full curriculum in Year 6. For all other pupils, both coming from inside the school or joining before the completion of compulsory education, taking the Austrian Matura Exam in addition is compulsory.

For Admissions to Year 5 of the IBDP of pupils having finished Year 4 of the Bilingual Programme at Gymnasium Klosterneuburg, the application process is run by the Administration of our school.

per year will be held.

Applicants for the IB Programme in Year 5 from German taught classes inside our school are assessed in English.
