Have you ever wondered why so many people are fascinated by the English culture and even seem to be a bit obsessed with it? Well, this question was on my mind before our school trip to Oxford at the beginning of this school year.
One of the best things that happened to me in England was to get closer to the English culture by walking past all those astonishing buildings and to explore Oxford’s glamorous universities like Christ Church College or Magdalene College. Another great experience was school in England. At first I thought it was going to be boring but I made friends with other international students from Italy and Saudi-Arabia and we experienced a lot together like meeting in an English pub to eat fish and chips or to drink tea with scones together.
For me this trip was more than having a good time. It was an investment in myself. Not only have I gained a deep insight into life in a real English village but I have also immersed in the English culture. Therefore I understand the British mentality better now and what it’s like to talk about rubbish weather conditions as well as meeting in a pub or to have a high tea in the afternoon. By doing all that I’ve unconsciously improved my English skills.
In school time passed like a blink of an eye and I am honestly sad that it is over. Even the trips to London and Blenheim Palace which I thought would be boring or even annoying were amazing and are unforgettable.
In the end I can only recommend signing up for a school trip to England. It really it is an investment in your future self and a great opportunity to improve your English.
